Innokin iTaste VTR Review

The Innokin iTaste VTR is the third version of the beloved and very popular MVP. This box mod, though, is actually drastically different from its predecessors, and these changes go far beyond the aesthetics and into the way the product performs and functions.

We wanted to get our hands on the iTaste VTR so that we could try it out for ourselves and compare it to the MVP. What follows is our review of this unique product so that you can better understand its features and determine if it would be the right investment for your e-cig device collection.

First Impressions

Innokin definitely does not disappoint in terms of the packaging of its products. Even though the iTaste VTR box is actually the same as that of the iTaste 134’s packaging, especially in terms of it looking a lot like a gun case, we definitely liked it for this product as well.

The package comes with the VTR, as well as the iClear 30S and the adapter/extension tube. Everything is packaged very well so that the pieces don’t become damaged in shipment. The black foam within the case is soft and cradles every piece delicately yet securely. Even the instruction manual is attractive in that it has thick black covers featuring silver trim.

Once we took the VTR out of its case, we took a look at its overall build to analyse its quality. We can honestly say that this product is a solid one. It is as good as it can get for any APV, especially at the price that it is sold at.

Despite how great we think this product is, we do have a few problems with the device’s ergonomics, which leave a little to be desired. First off, we feel that the iTaste VTR is too heavy, though not entirely uncomfortable. And even though the back of the device, which is the area of it that would rest between your finger and thumb, is comfortable, the opposite side of the device, which is the location of the firing button, isn’t comfortable, especially for those with larger hands. If you have smaller hands, this issue may not even occur to you, but just be aware that the VTR may not feel comfortable to everyone.

Another area that we feel the VTR is lacking in is the battery compartment’s door, which seems like it would easily break. We had to use a high level of caution whenever we had to operate its catch mechanism. It just did not feel sturdy, especially when compared to the rest of the device.

This device does feature a 510 recessed connection that’s compatible with many 2.5-3ml clearomisers and 510 XL cartomisers. It also sports a variable wattage and variable voltage feature that works very well, and you can switch between modes very easily.

Giving It a Test Run

Despite the positive and negative aspects of the VTR that we have already discussed, we wanted to get down to using the product and testing it for its performance. Thankfully, we were pleasantly surprised all around with how well this product operated. It produces a really enjoyable vaping experience.

We tested out the VTR with the Kanger Aero Tank, which we feel work absolutely perfectly together. Therefore, Kanger could be a great alternative to the iClear 30S. We also noticed that the battery life has definitely improved since previous models were released by Innokin, so we were happy to see that as well. Overall, the device works very efficiently to get the most out of each charge. In fact, we found that we typically got about 2 to 3 days of vaping out of this device after fully charging our 18650 battery at 2000mAh.

We also thoroughly enjoyed the ability to adjust the power output as we saw fit. There is a wide range that you can work with on this device, starting at 3 watts and moving all the way up to 15 watts. It would be difficult to find a similar device offering this wide of a range. So if you are the type of e-cig smoker who likes to pump up the wattage, this device will definitely be a good fit for you.

Final Thoughts

In the end, if you are seeking an Innokin product because of its quality, this is a good investment that will perform as it claims.

Innokin iTaste VTR

For those seeking a smaller and lighter device, the iTaste VTR may come as a bit of disappointment. However, despite the fact that it is quite hefty and features a 2.5ml to 3ml tank style, we can't deny just how great it operates.
